Is it ok to do small workouts at your desk?
Question by Rebecca L: Is it ok to do small workouts at your desk?
I work in an office where I rarely leave my chair. I started working out at the gym – running/walking 2 miles and using the weight room. At work I have been using water bottles as weights, doing squats, some ab exercises from my chair, etc… are these “at work exercises” going to help me lose weight/tone up or are they a waste of time? I do 3 sets at a time, but I break it up throughout the day as far as which area I target.

What you are doing is good for toning the muscle however you wont be able to see it if you are overweight because of the fat covering those muscles. If you keep doing these toning exercises though you will be toned more and more as you lose the excess weight. Im not sure if using water bottles as weights would be sufficient, but maybe you can get two 1 gallon jugs of water to use instead. They weigh about 8 pounds i think and would give good deal of resistance. Good luck

That’s a great idea! You may want to swap your chair for a stability ball. It forces you to use your abs to balance.
