Q&A: I’m skinny but my belly sticks out, why is that?
Question by KungFu Ninja: I’m skinny but my belly sticks out, why is that?
I’m short. 5ft tall. I have some fat on my lower stomach but not much and yet my belly pushes out like from the inside i’m not really sure though what it is. It looks weird.
Is that what fitness trainers mean when they say this about an ab exercise ” it works out your obliques that is like your body’s girdle”? Is that what everyone does to hold their stomach in and keep their tummies from pushing out or is it just me that has this problem? Thank you very much!
P.S – I run a lot but I haven’t done much ab workout, do you think doing them more often will help me with my problem?
I drink a lot of water (more than 8 glasses a day) and eat healthy (90% of the time)

it could be from:
lack of nutrition
dehyration
naturally weak abdominal wall
try taking a multivitamins and extra vitamin C
drinking more water
and doing 4 sets of 25 crunches every morning and night

easy- you can be skinny, but not in shape. my little sister is a stick, but if shes not holding her tummy it pouches. I had this problem too, and i am a runner and can be in great shape, but if you don’t work the abs, they will be weak. Ab exercises will fix this.
A hint, regular old crunches can make your tummy pouch out too, so do some of these:
“reverse crunches” (laying on back and with legs in air and arms by sides lifting butt and hips off ground, holding, then relaxing) and side crunches (basically a crunch while laying on one side) and my personal fave: lie on back and hold legs out at 45 degree angle and drop close to ground and then back up in air and keep going for a set amount of reps all while lifting shoulders off ground and flexing abs.
Of course, its not really a big deal and you could always just sit back and do nothing:)

I had a tummy before I had a bust line . I hate to admit it but my “natural girdle” needs spandex help in some outfits when I am off my diet . We shorty’s seem to show every extra calorie as bulge .
